This British documentary-style reality show about British farms has quickly reached its fourth season, allowing viewers to relatively authentically experience the working conditions of British farmers. The first three seasons have showcased the planting of various crops, the raising of different livestock, as well as the operation of farm shops and restaurants. To enhance the show's appeal, this season introduced the idea of opening a pub, which led to chaotic situations, compounded by historically bad weather, resulting in a poor harvest. However, the entertainment value remained high, leaving viewers wanting more.
Most people can probably relate to the extreme weather of recent years. As workers, we can often avoid extreme weather, and the losses may not be significant, but for farmers, there is no place to hide. Crops will reflect the impact of the weather, and while the government may provide some subsidies, after a year of hard work, the meager harvest is likely to be disheartening. Yet life must go on, and perhaps there will be fewer farmers in the future.
In this season, Clarkson, due to dealing with more people and perhaps being older, clearly struggles to control his emotions. As a wealthy individual, he is not particularly worried about money but is more concerned about his image, which often leads him to make irrational decisions. To meet the opening date he impulsively set, even when he himself got confused about the timing, he insisted that everyone rush to meet the deadline with him. This situation is essentially a nightmare for all workers; it’s not the lack of understanding from the boss that’s frightening, but rather a boss who doesn’t understand yet still wants to manage and push for speed and quality. Regardless, this is just a show, and the people in it can express their opinions relatively freely, with little hesitation about wanting to leave. In the end, everyone can still look forward to the next season with excitement.
